Musician in residence

African drummer Kofi Kunkpe has been teaching students African drumming, dancing and singing since the beginning of term 3. Each class from Foundation to year 6 has a 50-minute lesson each week during the term culminating in a whole school performance. This exciting opportunity has been made possible by the fundraising efforts of our school community through the Parents Association.

Step By Step

Step By Step Music are proud to be a part of the Marlborough Primary School community. We offer instrumental tuition for Guitar, Drums and Singing, and love giving our students opportunities to show off their musical ability at assemblies and performance nights. The lessons are fun and exciting, and we pride ourselves on our ability to build our students up to be the best musicians that they can be.

Just Brass

Selected students from Marlborough Primary School have the opportunity to take part in the Just Brass music program run by the Salvation Army in Ringwood.

Music has long been understood to have beneficial effects on the education and wellbeing of young people. Just Brass builds children’s confidence, self-esteem and ability to thrive in school.

Students are provided with a brass instrument and given free individual or small group lessons once a week at school. After school on Fridays, students are taken by bus to the Ringwood Salvation Army where they take part in ensemble rehearsals with students from other schools in beginner, intermediate and senior bands.  Concerts are held throughout the year. Senior band members also have the opportunity to play with the Genesis Brass youth band.
